London artist Ben Robbins came to Mallorca for over 15 years, before succumbing to the night life of Palma, but these days come to a quieter part of the island to enjoy. Here he gives us his views on the Top 10 things you should do is, while on the island.
1. Palma Cathedral - a high level in a prominent position on the promenade of Palma de Mallorca is one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in Spain. Golden sandstone, the interior beautyis due to the floods of light accentuated by the glass window. A favorite with photographers that I have painted many times.
2. Valldemossa is a distant dream artist. Located in the hills south of Miramar this wonderful city home has a beautiful monastery that housed Chopin and George Sand. It dates from the early fourteenth century, the monastery is the second most visited tourist attraction, after Palma's Cathedral. There are many beautifulRestaurants to enjoy and you rent the apartment to find nearby Mallorca.
3. Platja de Palma - If you live for a short period, then Palmas beach is large enough. These long white sand beach is located near the capital of the island, this place is probably aware of the rest on 'island. It may be full, there are many apartments to rent premises to move.
4. Peninsula de Formentor - In the north-east of PuertoPollenca, see the jagged peaks and steep falls Peninsula de Formentor. It leads to one of the nicest hotels and beaches of Mallorca, this makes for a great day trip if you have a car. You can take a boat from Port de Pollensa to the masses in order to avoid the height of the season. La Hacienda meets art-deco style Hotel Formentor is worth a visit for a drink or maybe a longer stay, if you have the budget. Majorca holidays are not complete without seeing this.
5. Palm Restaurant -Palma has to offer by far the best selection of restaurants, cafes and bars of the Balearic Islands. Whatever your taste, you'll find something to satisfy. I have eaten in many places over the years, but my favorite restaurant in Eden S'Aigua Blava Mallorca.
6. Palma-Soller train - I have to say that this is not for everyone, but I think this program is a great way to get under the skin 's island. The 28 km trip takes you through the mountains and valleys ofSerra de Tramuntana. Holidays in Mallorca a new dimension when you see the island from this perspective.
7. Soller - Tucked between the mountains of the town of Soller is full of stone houses and sloping alleys that navigate through the city. Many of the houses were owned before the family grocery prosperous regions for centuries. Today the city is a picturesque place to stroll and enjoy the surroundings. Soller is increasingly popular with tourists areand there is plenty of choice when it comes to self-catering holiday in Majorca.
8. Arta - The small town of Arta hills is at the head of the steepest de Mallorca Mallorca and is home to probably the most important sanctuary. There are some great spots to paint the city from above. Although the city is not as dramatic as its setting, the main reason for visiting the shrine city. 10 minutes walk to the Santuario de Sant Salvador, a look at this rewardingHoly Place.
9. Deia - on the west side of Majorca, halfway between Valldemossa and Soller, Deia is a beautiful old historic village of old stone buildings, which sits on a spectacular mountain backdrop. The Puig d'es Teix mountain (1062M) meets here the coast and into the night in the moonlight the miracle of this beautiful port city to life. The mountain road along the coast is spectacular and makes for a great day of riding. Houses in this part of Majorca can be veryexpensive, but if you're tough enough to always have to bargain.
10. Monestir Lluc - Sightseeing in Mallorca would not be possible without a visit to the secluded valley, 35 km north-east of Soller, where you can find Monestir Lluc (Monastery of Our Lady of Lluc) to complete. This Mallorca is the most important place of pilgrimage since the thirteenth century. With its orange walls and tiled roofs of the dormitories high, the building stands out in the surroundingMountains.
